Privacy and usage analytics

Inspector Station can collect basic usage events linked to your account to understand feature use and reliability. These include page categories, inspection creation, section edits, photos added, report previews generated, and generic error counts.

Usage events do not contain addresses, client names, inspection answers, comments, photos, passwords, full URLs, or error messages. A report-generation event does not establish that an inspection was completed or a report delivered.

Analytics is separate from Cloud Sync. With Cloud Sync off, your inspection content stays local, but basic usage events may still be sent to Inspector Station when connected. No third-party analytics service is used.

Offline events wait in a separate small queue of at most 100 events. Events older than seven days are discarded on subsequent app activity rather than sent; they may remain in browser storage while the app is closed. Delivery is best-effort, and events may be dropped at capacity. Failures do not prevent inspections, photo storage, or report generation.

Server event records have a 30-day retention target with hourly, batched cleanup while the service is running; outages can delay deletion. Collection is capped at 1,000 events per account per day. Your browser's Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal disables analytics collection. There is no additional Cloud Sync or account toggle.

Optional property lookup (test beta)

Address suggestions on the test site use Geoapify. When connected, pausing after typing at least four characters in an inspection address sends that partial address through Inspector Station to Geoapify. This happens independently of Cloud Sync; it does not send your name, comments or photos. You can ignore the suggestions and enter an address manually. Requests are not queued while offline. Unselected suggestions are temporary; selected and manually entered addresses use your inspection's normal storage settings. See Geoapify's privacy policy.

When you choose Look up property, the address and optional pasted listing text are sent to OpenAI for research. This is separate from analytics and Cloud Sync. Do not paste private client details. Research jobs and results are kept on the test server for up to 24 hours while the worker is running; outages may delay cleanup. Accepted reference notes stay with your inspection under its normal local storage and Cloud Sync settings. Listing claims are unverified background information, not inspection findings.

Optional photo assistance (test beta)

Photo assistance is off until you enable it. When you choose Analyze photo, that photo and the inspection's section, item and material-option labels are sent through the test server to OpenAI. This happens even with Cloud Sync off. Do not analyze photos containing private documents or people without appropriate permission. The address, client details and existing inspection answers are not needed for this analysis.

Selected photos waiting offline stay on this device until analysis can run during app activity. Temporary server image copies are deleted after the job finishes or fails; jobs and results expire after 24 hours during worker activity. Outages may delay cleanup. This temporary AI upload is not a cloud backup. Suggestions and accepted comments follow the inspection's normal local storage and Cloud Sync settings.

AI suggestions can be wrong. They remain provisional until you explicitly confirm them and are excluded from generated reports until confirmed. The original photo may support suggestions in several sections without creating duplicate inspection-photo uploads.
